The record
Reon van der Watt has spent his working life on the wrong side of what most people would call a reasonable risk. Where the concept of fear does not exist. Only focus.
Born and raised in Knysna, South Africa, action was part of his life long before it became a profession. Martial arts, gymnastics, skating and alternative action sports built an unusual combination of movement, coordination and adaptability. By his early twenties, that lifestyle had evolved naturally into professional stunt work.
Versatility became his specialty. Fighting, driving, falling, burning, riding, crashing, flying or figuring out something that had never been done before. But over time, he found his lane as a stunt double, working with actors whose roles demanded something physical, technical or just dangerous enough to be interesting.
His work has put him alongside Chris Evans, Vin Diesel, Alan Ritchson and Bill Skarsgård, across productions including Mad Max: Fury Road, F9, The Dark Tower, Black Sails and One Piece. He is a Screen Actors Guild Award winner, Guinness World Record holder and three-time ISKA World Champion.
But the work has never only been about performing stunts. It is a lifestyle built around action and design. Understanding movement, developing equipment, solving physical problems and finding better ways to put ambitious ideas on screen.
